freediving coaching
The Enki Approach to Freediving
Like in any sport, progress in freediving is the result of training. And like in any sport, you can achieve your desired results faster if you train smart, with the help of a coach by your side to guide you and provide you with their knowledge and experience. A coach will also bring an objective and fresh eye, and can more easily identify your strengths, and also where are your barriers and how to break or step over them.
My goal as a coach is to help you become the best freediver you can be. To help you reach your objectives. And sometimes even to achieve things you didn’t even suspect you were capable of!
I am there to help polish your technique in the water, to push you when you need to be pushed, and to rein you back when you try to overdo it. I am here to guide you along the road towards your goals.
I don’t have all the answers. It is a partnership, we work hand-in-hand. I love the detective work of trying to understand who you are and which tools, exercises and tricks will work for YOU, because every person is different.

Freediving Courses
AIDA 1 - Discovery
- Duration: 1 day
- Price: 180€
- Requirements: be over 18 (or 16 with parental consent), and be able to swim 200m. You will also be asked to fill a medical questionnaire.
This discovery course is for anyone who is curious about giving freediving a try, but has limited time, or isn’t sure yet that they will like it and don’t want to commit to a full course.
In this intro course you will have a short classroom session to learn the basic theory about breathing, relaxation, physiology and safety. You will then have a go at static apnea, either dry or in the water. Finally, you will also have an open water session to put all these new skills into practice at depth (maximum 10m).
No performance requirements, no exam, so just come and have fun, and enjoy the blue!
Note: if you enjoyed it and decide you want to continue, you can add an extra 1.5-2 days and complete the AIDA 2 course instead (your AIDA 1 will simply be transformed into the first day of your AIDA 2 course).
AIDA 2 - Beginner
- Duration: 2.5 days
- Price: 460€
- Requirements: be over 18 (or 16 with parental consent), and be able to swim 200m. You will also be asked to fill a medical questionnaire.
This course is for complete beginners (meaning you can start straight from here without doing the AIDA1 first) and will teach you all the necessary basic skills and knowledge to turn you into a certified freediver!
The theory sessions will teach you all about how to breathe properly, how to relax, but also about the technical aspects in the water such as equalization and finning. Last but not least, you will also learn how to do safety and rescues for your freediving buddies.
In confined water you will get the chance to practice static and dynamic apnea: be amazed at how long you can hold your breath for, and learn how to be more efficient when moving underwater! Then you will put all these skills in practice at depth for vertical dives in two different disciplines.
By the end of the AIDA 2 you will be comfortable holding your breath for 2 minutes or more, swimming 40 meters horizontally, and diving in a relaxed way to depths between 12 and 20 meters!
AIDA 3 - Advanced
- Duration: 3 days
- Price: 595€
- Requirements: be over 18 (or 16 with parental consent), and be certified AIDA 2 or equivalent. You will also be asked to fill a medical questionnaire.
Here we are leaving the realm of the beginner freediver, and learning more advanced techniques: gain more confidence and improve your technique!
In the classroom you will get a deeper knowledge of physiology, especially about the amazing mammalian dive reflex. You will also learn about effective training methods for freediving, and put these in application in confined water. Finally, during depth sessions you will polish your technique, learn Frenzel equalization, and get an addictive taste of how incredible it feels to freefall underwater!
By the end of the AIDA 3 course you will be able to hold your breath for over 2:45min, to swim more than 55 meters horizontally, and to dive comfortably to 24-30 meters!
AIDA 4 - Expert
- Duration: 4 days
- Price: 645€
- Requirements: be over 18 (or 16 with parental consent), and be certified AIDA 3 or equivalent. Have an EFR (or equivalent) certification within the last 2 years. You will also be asked to fill a medical questionnaire.
In this course you will become a proficient freediver, and this is the last step before turning professional. You will learn more advanced techniques such as mouthfill equalization and FRC-diving, so as to train for much deeper dives and knowing how to prepare your body for it. You will also end the course as a totally independent freediver, comfortable doing safeties and rescues, but also setting up your own diving equipment, and even able to assist instructors!
The AIDA 4 course will take you to breath-holds well over 3:30min, dynamic swims of more than 75 meters on one breath, and to dive comfortably below your residual volume, to depths up to 38 meters!
AIDA Instructor
- Duration: 10 days
- Price: 1050€
- Requirements: be over 18 (or 16 with parental consent), and be certified AIDA 4 or equivalent. Have an EFR (or equivalent) certification within the last 2 years. You will also be asked to fill a medical questionnaire.
This is where you will “go pro” and turn your passion into a career! During the course you will be evaluated on your technique and abilities in the water (therefore you need to come prepared with an already instructor-level technique) and you will learn how to teach freediving to others. The course will include classroom presentations, as well as confined and open water teaching scenarios. You will also have to pass several theory exams and to produce an essay and special presentation on a freediving-related topic.
The instructor course is a challenging but very rewarding course. It is strongly recommended to take ample preparation and training time and be confident in all disciplines before joining, rather than signing up for the instructor course right after being certified AIDA 4.
